IT wasn't necessarily DCC equipped,

But they sold them DCC equipped and AFAIK, it was the first to do so.

Kudos to Arnold, then. Although their S2 did have other concerns. Micro trains should have no problem equipping an SW1500, especially in Bachmann can do a 44 tonner. They can always contract Mr. U18b to do them.

I like my Lifelike SW12s, though, and the Arnold S2 is good and noisy, like a real Alco.

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

To manufacture a brand new locomotive without at least having a DCC decoder plug would be IMO a big mistake.  If Atlas can shoehorn a sound decoder and a speaker in their S2, there is no excuse to make this new MT model strictly DC.

There is also sloth and spite....however, we may be lighting the torches and gathering the pitchforks prematurely. Let's see what they come up with...we can always get mad later.

Best wishes, Dave

If they have accurate shells and solid mechanisms, I'm in for a pari in KCS - one white and one grey.  I can mill the frame for DCC if need be.  Nicely done Joe.

Ugh, Love the news of a new loco from MT, so close yet so far.  SW1200 and then I would snap up any Q units made.  Too new so maybe I might pick up a GN just to support the cause depending on the price point.

Perhaps there is more under the shell of this model than the Kato NW-2s in which I had DCC decoders installed.
Also converted mine to MTL z-scale 905 couplers.
