Now that summer is over I dont have to worry about a messed up work schedule, so I was able to start some work on the new room today. The old "odd wall" that made the 4' wide hallway was taken town and then the alcove and new wall were mocked up. Need to fill in the old utility room door and install a new door to the right of where the new wall will be meeting the utility room wall. Luckily the contractor that they had build all this had used screws instead of nails so I was able to reuse all the lumber and save myself quite a bit of money.

I hope to get all the studs buttoned up tomorrow.

Oh I believe that it will be more than a manageable size, being about half the size of my previous home layout. The layout is going to be about 11'x30'. Ceiling will be drywall with lighting cans installed over the aisleway. I am planning on doing florescent over the layout in the upper fascia like I did on the old layout using GE Chroma50 bulbs.

Matt, I know how much of a nightmare it is, it took us forever to close. The market has definitely has changed quite a bit since I bought my last house.

Banged out some more studs today. The contractor they had used had used screws instead of nails. I know its not a new construction technique but  I'd always used nails for toe nailing. Went with the screws on these and to nails I will not go back.

The short section of pressure treated is a short wall (need to add one more stud) where one of the helix's will be backed up against (I need to relocate the electrical box as I just reused the stud). I still need to stud in the old utility room door, where my work desk and dispatchers desk will be.

PRR did haul anthracite, but it constituted a minority of its overall coal traffic.  If you want the king of anthracite, look no further than The Reading Company.

I have read about the steel mills in Y-town shopping a bunch of L&N cars. Apparently they got a certain grade of coal from them.

I believe for anthracite most for NH customers came from Reading. I have seen photos of Reading coal cars at the Ossipee, NH fuel dealer on Old Route 28 that sold anthracite coal. The signs are still up on the building.
