I suppose a KCS white unit would have been in order, but how well do they sell? Probably better than WSOR.

You mean like this....  :D   I didn't pick the unit for the paint, the gent that wanted it did...

Glad I picked up the amount I did when they were still in the mid 40's.  Bet Shane is kicking himself for not ordering more...  :o

Geeze, I was thinking about picking up a couple of WSOR's in a month or so when I had the cash, might have to spring now or miss out.

I wouldn't worry about the WSOR units selling out quickly.  You could probably wait until they put them on sale and get them in a few months time.  If you were going to paint your own, well....

Thinking KCS more as a western road, but CP 5400's are always good... for a laugh!

The WSOR will sell out a little slower than the Algoma Central SD40's. Hurry you only have a decade to snap one up! MBK still has 12 AC units listed.

Not sure there was a road with a more messed up series than CP with the 5400's. The first group, 5400-5414 were ok as were the R/B 5490's , but the ex KCS, UP, SOU units were fun, and 5447, 5448 and 5449 were just sad.

I'd love a model like that 5416, but too late for me. I will do a few of the former QNSL's though.

Shot of the white 5416 I took some time ago as part of a rather interesting lashup, at least in Ontario (pardon the poor image, old scan from my old college website that I thought was long gone):

Except most manufacturers don't classify it as such - when they bother to do them at all.  Which is why I bought an undec to paint white.

So with all the Kato posts running amok, I probably missed this, but is the Digitraxx DN163K1C the proper decoder for the "new" SD40-2 runs?  My undec is now unboxed, and my IC is heading to me now via USPS< so I want to get them decoderized.

Yes.  In fact the K1C seems to be the defacto decoder for most Kato's since they discontinued the K1B series.
