Yes yes yes! Next time Joe rolls up his wheelbarrow, I will be prepared to shovel money into it. Those are outstanding.

I already bought a boatload of his signal cabinets, with some to try as signal bases, plus a few of the pot signals to try my hand at converting to "live". If he is planning on doing signals with that level of detail fidelity, it's going to save me an incredible amount of modeling work and I can then concentrate on the electronics.

Well, the question would then be "whose Type D?" (acknowledging that "Type D" is actually US&S model nomenclature). US&S older cast backs? Newer modulars? Safetran aluminum? Safetran plastic? GRS designs? What style visors? The mind swims at the possibilities when one gets to the level of detail shown in the sneak preview of what are clearly (to me) Type SA signals typical of SP practice in the mid-20th century, although they're missing the Phankills.

That bit of ad nauseum trivia aside... I'd love to see somebody do the US&S cast designs. The challenge would be in lighting them up.

modern D Type!
At this point I think we will only see modern D type signals in Nscale when they start to become relics of the past in real life..... *sigh*

Some of the blizzard hoods have them, some don't...and some have them in different configurations.  I thought they were modern additions, but my reference photos from the early '50's show them in place along with Big Boys, Challengers and F3's.

I am not 100% sure what they are, but I believe they are icicle "preventers" and keep the snow back off the hood enough so that no ice forms to obscure the lights.

These co-exist with modern Type-D signals on the mainlines here on the Wasatch Grade.  The new signals replaced the cantilever signal bridges (replaced because of rotting concrete bases), but the old searchlight Type-D's didn't get replaced.  So, here...it would be prototypically correct to have both modern and the '50's versions present on the same mainlines if you're modeling "modern".

That's interesting...

There was some talk - and this involved RR and traffic signals - that LED signals were cause enough problems since they did not heat up and melt
snow that heaters needed to be installed in some signal heads.
