Daniel:  Thank you.  That makes sense...

I once saw a video of unequalized pressures.  Someone steam-cleaned the inside of a tank car, and left the valves closed when finished.  As the leftover steam condensed, outside air pressure crushed the tank...

Accomplished some ballasting and trackwork on the 1:450 P&W.  My track uses AMI instant roadbed (an old stash) and T-Gauge.co.uk's new ballast, plus some weathering chalks.

And experimenting with a $6 macro lens add-on for my smartphone..

Did someone call me?

Just another Brian in the crowd, oh well...  :D

My latest stuff that I finished before heading to Triberg, Germany to go hiking in the Black Forrest.  My shins are killing me from all the walking....

Thanks,
Brian K.

This is an Atlas GP38 that I painted quite a while ago and I just got around to detailing it.
Z scale couplers, windshield wipers, wind deflectors, wire grabs on the plow, cut levers, mu and trainline hoses.
It got some light weathering and this engine also has independent numberboard lighting.

Florida doesn't suck.  My weekend:

But before that in the early morning hours we paused to render our respects to the real meaning of the long weekend:

My Memorial Day was similar.
My Eagle Project was refurbishing a war memorial that had some failing landscaping and making the whole site more "permanent" with a concrete pad and some pavers. The final step was its re-dedication by the Gibbstown VFW, which they came out in full force, even though they had their own memorial day stuff in their own town.
I now carry one of the spent casings from the rifle salute in my uniform pocket.

Even though the project was done, I didn't consider it done until the VFW got through with their ceremony.
Anyone can make something pretty, but the whole point of a memorial is to remember those inscribed upon it.

Memorial Day Weekend seemed like an appropriate time to arrange for a funeral pire for the parts of the layout that simply couldn't be salvaged.  You may recall these shots as I built up the expanded east staging yard:

And worked on the benchwork for Cumberland.

Well, while most of the layout has been cut into manageable chunks and stored, these bits, with the exception of Hinshaw, the subroadbed and track in front of Cumberland Station, and the narrow helix up to the Elkins line, all met their end Sunday evening in the back yard, send up a spectacular display of the incendiary variety...

And so it goes.  The decks are cleared for a future project to be named later.  In the mean time, I shall be enjoying visiting with you all and watching your ideas and talents expand the horizons of this great hobby.  I'll also be planning to build a nice garage with a substantial spare room!

That must have been painful.......there are very few states that allow open fires like that.....no doubt you had a garden hose at the ready in case some of those sequestered aromatic hydrocarbons decided to cause some trouble.  Can't wait to see your next efforts, Lee.

Finished up a new addition for my Milwaukee fleet. Combine #207 was used on the former North Woods Hiawatha route for a while and will be put to use in the same service on the Modutrak layout.

:o Jaw dropping Milwaukee Road modelling. I could definitely use one of those, or a whole fleet.

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

No modeling whatsoever, so living vicariously through the great stuff being posted here.

However, I have one of those rare moments (for me anyway) where two of my favorite pastimes came together at the same time and same spot. Railfaning and Fly Fishing. I was on the Little Juniata River this past Sat. The fishing was some of the best I've ever had, and the trains did not disappoint either. Captured NKP 765 first thing in the morning at Spruce Creek. Then throughout the day just below Spruce Creek Tunnel, I saw no less than 5 Heritage units throughout the day, plus about 20 or so other assorted train goodness to be had.

Started milling the wax cavity mold for New Haven RPO sides in the more common 0-4/4-0 window arrangement, to retrofit into an MTL body.
