So I just got the new Kato upcoming release email and no one has started a thread yet so here goes...

I think 3 threads were started when this news broke a month or two ago....I'm surprised you got the email so late.

I think the poster just got the Kato Newsletter for March which I also received this morning, 13 March 2013.
Some of us are not privy to the releases to hobby shops, so our news comes a bit later.   ;)
Did not see any new steam locomotives, so my budget is safe another day.

However Kato also sent the same email out a month ago. Can't find it as I deleted it, but this is just a rehash of the email from a month ago

It's actually not a rehash.   There is updated information since many of the announcement items now how photos up versus drawings when the original was sent.   (and very large photos, at that!)

But the color match for the handrails on the WS isn't......very good.

I was thinking about picking up a couple of these because I like the RR and their scheme. The other photos look much better.

It will end up being just one more data point for Kato to justify selling only UP, SP, SF and BNSF in the future. "We did WS and nobody bought it..... back to UP and BNSF."

I should have qualified my statement by pointing out that I have no idea how easy or hard it is to color match a painted shell with handrails. It must be difficult because this seems to happen a fair bit. In a case like this, I would prefer black handrails, even though they are the wrong color because the red they use is so different. Matt is correct though, and this would be a sharp scheme with replacement handrails.
