Does anyone make this box car style in N scale?

http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/kcs/kcs25406ajs.jpg

Thanks for any help.

Hmm... that box car
isn't much on style...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

MT should get you close.  They even have a similar door available.  Or, we can fire up the wait for Atlas debate.

With all the variations floating around, it's hard for me to tell what any freight cars are.

Hmm... I bet the door
confused Kiz...

But some are easier than others and Pullman is the easiest (post '47).

Just look at the roof.  That's a Pullman roof.  99.9% of cars with that roof will be Pullman.  If you could see the ends, the same would apply.

Use the Athearn car and if that's an 8' door just wait for the Atlas 40' car with the same door.   If it's wider, than you'll be splicing.

Oh no, not me! :D

Hmm... Kiz is too old
to splice...

I just Googled it and found it on a KSC website.

The Athearn car is the one I had been looking at as well when looking for a good starting point.

Found some info over at steamerafreightcars.com
http://steamerafreightcars.com/prototype/frtcars/PullmanStandard50ftPS1BoxCars.pdf

KCS ordered quite a few 50' PS1 boxcars all with 9' doors.
200 cars in the series #25300-#25499 were delivered with 6 panel Superior doors in January 1957. (That's the one in the pic you posted!)
They had fish-belly sills.

The Athearn car has the correct sills and door width (not to mention nice photo-etched walkways) but the doors are Youngstown.
You could fashion your own Superior doors, or come up with a plausible reason why you had to put on a new door!  :P

OR

You could model the series #1500-#1599 which were also delivered in January 1957, with 9' Youngstown doors!  :D

The Microtrains 50' PS1 has 8' doors amongst other contradictions.

Hope this helps?

I don't care for Athearn's freight cars (screwed-on trucks, McHenry couplers), so I'll go with Micro-Trains. Cheaper, too. Close enough for me.

The MTL 8' isn't 8'.  I'm sure it's not a big deal, but you should at least know going in.

Kis,

The Athearn cars were originally tooled by MDC Roundhouse and have which had normal truck mounts and crapido couplers (as well as etched metal roofwalks). I just picked up a bunch of the Roundhouse ones on ebay for really cheap (under $5 each). As a bonus the sides are more dimensionally correct than the MTL version.

If you have to paint and decal the model anyway, you're better off with the Athearn/MDC model.  You always can swap out the underframe, or change the trucks to Atlas or MTL.  The bolster screws are not an issue.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. I guess I'll flip a coin to see which cars I'll get.

Hmm... look at that. The
