Despite the uncomfortable pattern, I love the idea.
Too bad my floor joists wouldn't support a cushioned version in my living room.

Last week, I said I had to assemble 80 pairs of Micro-Trains #1027 body mount couplers. Well, I did it, but then I went and broke my MTL tap, so I can't tap the holes on the underframes to put the couplers on. GRONK!

Hmm... isn't that the
sound a dinosaur makes
in the BC comic strip...?

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

The "Gaggle of Gooderham Goodies" (All Rights Reserved) has left Puddy in modeling heaven......

This was shown on the GGoG thread......

CPR Express Reefer 5509 is ready for service. I used a slightly modified True Line Trains CPR Tuscan paint and CDS dry transfer set "Express Reefer", burnished onto decal film for the markings. I added MT 1032 couplers and MT lo pro wheels to the trucks that came with the kit. BLMA ladders and Gold metal sturrups complete the model.

CP 5509 is in the lead position, directly behind the power unuts, including passenger equipped GP9 on the "Mountaineer". She is passing Northhill, BC on her way to Calgary where she will be quickly cut off before the consist heads east.

.... and then there is the "heavy" of the group.....

The Gooderham heavyweight Baggage Express kit; mid 1920's construction; multiple series that had minor variations.... classic CPR that ran on every passenger conists; main line, secondary or regional from the 20's until the late 60's.....

These cars lasted into the new century as MOW cars and I'm not sure a few don't still serve on today....

Geoff had done an AMAZING  job on these and I am so jacked for the seond cars in each series, the A series dining car and, of course the slab sides, arriving this week.
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I got a fair amount done again this week, so unfortunately that means lots of pictures.

I finished the Slocan River railway bridge and installed it.  I always find installing bridges and their piers and abutments is finicky but this one turned out quite well (straight, level, plumb and solid).  And I built the Hwy 3A bridge that runs parallel to the railway bridge.  This has a minimum of detail and is simply styrene sheets on a solid 1x4.  I will use the Hwy bridge as a “handle” to open and close the entry gate that this scene resides on, so it needs to be very sturdy with minimal detail to get crushed.  So far it seems to work very well in this capacity.

And here are some shots of the unfinished scene showing the swing gate open and closed , first from the crew lounge...

...and then the other side from the layout room.

Oh, and I weathered another dozen cars.  Once I had set up the layout using the new industry-driven, car forwarding system, it was readily apparent I did not have enough box cars for my era so I added some more.

BTW, that mock up bridge is the next one to be replaced with a finished structure!  I can't wait...

Next up is scenicing the Slocan River scene however next week the focus will be an operating session Thursday which is principally to test the new forwarding system so perhaps I won't have too much to share next weekend.

Oh, Railwire’s own Gary Hinshaw is the rookie dispatcher next week so please give me your opinion on let how kind I should be to him 

Here is a Pic of my Southern Pacific MT-4 casting on a modified Bachman J Class mechanism that Phillip Johnson and I have been working on.  We still need to build and cast the front pilot and finish the tender castings.  But I am happy with the looks of the driver and boiler.

Engineer side... I also still need to file the rods on this side.  The pipe hanger worked really well.

Mike, it's interesting how, in the caption for the express reefer photograph Geoff's name has changed to "Mark" and then, miraculously, back to "Geoff" on the photo of the baggage car!

Cheers,

Finally made the switch to DCC today.  Got the yard and branchline wired in to it,  decoders in three locos, and they actually work (the Trainmaster on the second try - upside down decoder. Oops)  Only three more decoders to install.  No idea why I bought two VO-1000 ones, different makes, when I only have one awaiting H-10 conversion.  Guess I'll have to buy another VO, maybe in LV.

Throttle cab doesn't seem to be working, yet.  Need a few beers to ponder on the why.

Good luck dispatching, Gary.

Looks like my next revenue freight car project will be a batch of slab side hoppers from Geoff Gooderham - these cars were used to haul grain from Fort St. John and Dawson Creek to custoiomers in the Fraser Valley and on Vancouver Island, so they are needed for my freight car fleet:

This week I also assembled three of the new International Loadstar trucks from Showcase Miniatures:

I have a small contribution this week.

Story is The Grande Valley Railway bought this old CPR GP35 and rebuilt it into a GP38-3.The red paint was still in great condition so what you see here is the only (so far ) red GVR locomotive ever.Managment is however looking at some CPR GP38-2s that Joe's Used locos has for sale.

In case anyone is curious loco is Z scale.
