60 ft Double Plug Door boxcar comparison

With the recent, somewhat acrimonious, thread on MT's new 60 ft boxcar a thing of the past, here is a side-by-side comparison of one of them with an ancient Con-Cor model of the same car.  Other than being weathered, the CC model has had the side sills extended with styrene strips, to fill the space over the trucks, and both have had 1025 couplers and ACI labels added, but are otherwise original.

For a generation old model, the CC version isn't bad, and if MT hadn't released theirs in GN green, I'd have been satisfied with it.  It's interesting that, of all the similar 60 ft double plug door prototypes, the only two I know of in N scale model the same car...

On another topic, I tried taking the same picture without flash, to avoid shadows on the backdrop.  Oddly, it came out very OVERexposed!

So Concor has doors with more depth of detail; MT has better overall finish and trucks.  Ride height looks better too with the MT car - but the lighter metal wheels on the CC car may be masking it's true height.  Interesting - thanks for doing this.

Hmm, off the bat the Concor car has no roofwalks vs the MTL version with roofwalks.

The Concor car sides seem a little short compared to the MTL, which we know is pretty true to the (Greenville) proto in this.

Yes, the CC car is a more modern version, which is incorrect for the GN.  As far as I can find, the GN cars didn't lose their roofwalks until they were repainted, either BSB or BN.  The actual roof height is very similar, but the CC car has a higher side sill, probably for truck clearance.  They originally had truck mounted Rapidos.

The MT car is clearly the better model, but for its time, the CC version was above average.

Yes, I am fully aware of that, as it was hashed to death in the previous thread.  The intent here was simply to compare the two models, in the same paint scheme, to show the difference a generation makes.  I am satisfied to run them.

If you know where an AC&F car, in N scale, in correct GN paint, at a reasonable price, can be found, I'll be happy to buy one.
