If your are going to bend the fence prior to installation, I'd do that before painting it.

Forgot to ask about the signs and if they should be left natural, i.e. brass, or painted same or alternate color.

  I had purchased some of this same fence previously and think I spray painted it, but misplaced that in my inventory of supplies.
I had one section and bent the fence after I painted it; I used an X-acto wide chisel blade to create a crisp edge/fold.
The fence sections are 62 n-scale feet long, so longer than nominally labeled as 300 n-scale feet per package.  [Thanks, Loren Perry for the bonus.  ]

One very light coat with an airbrush, and bake it in an oven to sucure it.

Lee! those images are fantastic! Brings a tear to my eye.... The WML layout is one of my favorites. Some of its DNA will surely make it into my plan when I start. (especially the river scene)

I have located the source material but now have to get it here and do the deed. I believe the source material also deals a bit more on the RSD15. You will get the full lot when I have it.

I've spent all week cleaning track and getting locomotives running again.  Some were fine, others just needed their wheels cleaned . . . while others needed to be disassembled and have the brass contacts strips polished where they interface with the trucks.  With a little effort all the locos I've serviced so far are running flawlessly.  Words of wisdom.  If your layout sits unused for several years, it takes mucho effort to get things running smoothly again.

I'm prepping the plywood area for scenery by filling the gaps in the plywood with folded newspaper or string (as seen here) and then a coat of waterproof wood glue.  This'll keep my scenery glue/fluid combo from dripping down and making a mess.


My D&RGW FT A&B set running through while I'm farting around with things.


Over the years what works best for me track cleaning wise is the old 0-5-0 (my hand), 91% isopropyl alcohol and a lint free microfiber lens cleaning cloth.  You can also tell in this photo that I'm a bit anal with how I do things.  When I did the last section of scenery, it ended in a perfectly straight line.

Just another day on the Standard Railroad of the World.



My reworked K4 sports a new road number (#5487 was a K4s scrapped in 1956; the factory-applied number wasn't even assigned to a K4).  She has Microscale decals, which pleasantly now have the right spacing.  I tried, tried, and tried to use the buff-colored Clover House dry-transfer decals, but I just couldn't get them to work.  That said, the Microscale decals are a bit more gold than I'd prefer.  The running gear on the K4 is coated with NeoLube, and the new number plate is from Alkem Scale Models.  The white on the headlight casting is Micro Crystal Clear, not yet dry.  She's had her cylinders painted DGLE.  Dullcote gives her a workaday appearance.
