Folks,

I have the n scale BLMA brass bridge.  I bought it in 2008, but have no idea what to do with it.  I've even tried selling it a few times.

Craig sent me some photos of the prototype and surrounding area, but I'm not sold on the location being a good scene for a diorama.  So I ask the group:  please post links to prototypes that resemble the bridge that would make for an interesting diorama.

Tom, is yours painted silver like the model page?  Strikes me that you generally see black truss bridges back East and silver ones out West.

my personal favorite through truss...but a 5 panel black one not a 4 panel silver one.  The right length however.



4th crossing of the Kootenay River.  9 bridges and two islands chained together the largest bridge being a 150' through truss.  Different "portals" than the BLMA bridge however.

I always loved railfanning along the parallel UP/BSNF tracks between Plattsmouth and Bellevue, NE...  The silver trusses are BNSF across the Platte River, and the UP tracks are to the west.

The bridge is not silver, but the CP Cisco bridge is pretty interesting and the BLMA bridge is a close match.

If you're looking for bridge and train protection a tunnel to tunnel span with a mountain face on three sides ( sprinkle trees or not ) . If all the trees are below the ridge line they are also protected . The span made up of the BLMA and plate deck spans for train visibility and ease of flange seating might work , Usually the default truss is a deck type because it is easier to install ( Read that someplace ) . A through truss is used when under clearance is needed ( Read that too someplace ) . You know what they say about rules though . This would make transporting the diorama in a box safe . Kind of a rock face cove .

The UP was really the only western road to almost exclusively paint it's bridges silver.
