But the SD70ACe is more than the heritage schemes, which are a novelty at best.  I did a quick look and the nose mounted headlight is on a number of major roads that will sell.  These locomotives are run by a lot of railroads, both in the US and internationally.  My favorite is the BHP paint job...  Still, these will become one of the two main modern locomotives and will sell like hotcakes.

Don't be so sure.
I've seen them moving both east and west on the Chicago- Port Huron/Sarnia line as recently as three years ago.
I think their bringing sheet aluminum from the Sault Ste. Marie to the pop can plant in Michigan.
I'm getting some.

Wagon tops, I remember seeing them in Michigan, in Chessie. :D

This and the shots Chris posted means a few in Chessie and a Beano.

H30, if they made it to the 90's, would have likely made it to Ontario given proximity to CR lines and major interchanges. N&W H30's look interesting as well. Oh well, looks like I'll be supporting a few of these releases after all.

H30, eh? Looks like some of these were used by the PRR for MOW? What did they use them for?

Probably hauling locomotive sand.

Man, an H30?  Really?  I've got a couple of traincats waiting to be done, so a rtr is cool and not trying to hate, but I would have liked to seen something else not done, like an H32.  :|

Wow! What era is your layout? I see these things in CK and saw they were in use around 1935.

The 1930's are unfathomable for a 29 year old.
Oh yea, August 1930 for a 17 year old! Long Live Pennsy Steam!

Woooo! This will be expensive.

And you know what else is exciting?  Friction bearing trucks with leaf springs! This style of truck is long overdue.

The big S stands for Sand . Dedicated to that commodity only . Diesel or Steam sand were the common uses .

NO, the big S stands for stores.  I always thought it was sand but was corrected.  Various cars had the big S and they could carry just about anything the railroad needed to keep going.

It stands for sand on other roads though . You are correct about the PRR . I found thei while you were typing .

" Former PRR H30 class covered hopper 32307 was used by Penn Central in company service to deliver sand to locomotive servicing facilities around the system. It was photographed in 1974 in Buffalo, New York. The large "S" on the side stood for the Stores Department, a carryover from PRR days. Photographer unknown, from the Sean Lamb collection. "

The Canstock cars made it to the Beer Line in service to Continental Can. I won't be modeling the CC plant but the area around it would make a cool switching layout. This could include the big Schlitz elevator, CC, ER Godfrey warehouse, served by both the Milwaukee and the C&NW.

What did the Southern gons haul?  Coal?

Best wishes, Dave

Leave it to my boy to notice the trucks!  LOL.   You have an eye for detail.

Canstock painted for CSX.
Beano wagontop caboose in Chessie.

Ahhhhh.  Fox has been berry berry good to me.

(now, if they would just do a Moscow, Camden & St. Augustine box....... I'd faint.)
