LMGTFY.  http://www.smokymountainmodelworks.com/HO_gondolas.html  (scroll down the page a little where you'll find a brief history)

Thanks for the info, Dave!

Wahoo! Late sixties models are just crawling out of the woodwork lately.

Hmm... I'm not touching
that line...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"

Thats for the explanation. Can Stock likely never came to Canada, but it's likely that the H30 did, but did any make it to, say 1989?
Don't be so sure.
I've seen them moving both east and west on the Chicago- Port Huron/Sarnia line as recently as three years ago.
I think their bringing sheet aluminum from the Sault Ste. Marie to the pop can plant in Michigan.
I'm getting some.

Wagon tops, I remember seeing them in Michigan, in Chessie. :D

I'll be in if a Chessie scheme is done on the wagontop caboose, because that can mesh nicely in my pre-CSX Seaboard System layout, where Chessie and Seaboard equipment was starting to intermingle in the few years prior to the CSX merger.  Sorry, Lee.

Perusing proto photos, it seems that UP and others had the nose headlight on their SD70ACe units.  This is great news- the Kato model is nice but onlly comes in the high headlight.  I'll be able to cut out the back grills and make these a SD70M-2 with the Trainworx etchings.  Awesome.

H30, eh? Looks like some of these were used by the PRR for MOW? What did they use them for?

I was hoping this would happen, but never thought it would, and why I only bought a couple of Kato ACe's.   Those will be going onto the 'bay.

Now if I could only get my GP60Ms from FVM

Man, H30's are too late for my era, but it is Pennsy, so I may have to buy one to encourage more PRR products.

Here's a trio in Coteau, Quebec: (These might have come up through Montreal though.)

Sault Ste. Marie had a steel mill, not aluminum. And any CN traffic from there comes south through Wisconsin, not Ontario. That would be the long way around.

Wow! What era is your layout? I see these things in CK and saw they were in use around 1935.

The 1930's are unfathomable for a 29 year old.

I love FVM's stuff - but I am baffled as to why he would do an SD70ACE when the SD40-2 is basically an open target.

At this point I am so bored by the NS Heritage thing - they should rename the Eastern board at Trainorders "The NS Heritage Discussion and Photo Area".

And mark my words, if anyone around here calls the Jersey Central unit "The Joisey Gurl"  or   "Snooki" -  expect a firm kick in the ***!!!!!!
