Which Trucks on Prototype Beercan Tank Cars?
« on: January 21, 2013, 01:54:58 PM »

I have a number of beercan tank cars, all without trucks. I checked Spookshow's site and saw that at least one Atlas car had bettendorf trucks.

I was wondering if Micro-Trains barber trucks would be out of place on some of my cars. I suppose I could even use MT regular roller bearing trucks.

Thanks for any help.

Hmm... I'm helping by

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Being the cars have no real prototype, technically any truck will work.

Kiz,
Given your well known early '70's bent, I"d look for an appropriate roller bearing truck and go for it. Friction bearings were well on the way out by then, if not completely gone in revenue service.

Thanks everyone for the photos and information. Looks like I'll be doing mostly roller bearing trucks then. Still, I like bettendorf trucks, so a few will get those trucks.

This forum makes me feel so ignorant.

Hmm... what do you
mean, "feel"...?

Ooh, ooh, I just remembered the Atlas web page for past N products. I found their listings for Beer Can tank cars -

http://www.atlasrr.com/nproducts.htm  = and search for "beer can" to see list of past cars

Many of the cars listed had bettendorf trucks, of which I have plenty.

Hmm... alas, my termite
