Some mid-Atlantic love this time - G32C pilots

Finished applying decals to these G32C pilot models earlier this evening for display in Springfield.  The master these castings were rendered from was sub-par due to the build orientation.  The master has been re-engineered to eliminate the trouble spots, but wasn't ready in time to make castings for show samples.  Nonetheless, people will get the gist of the final models possible from the kit.  The PRR-decorated model from early last year, which is a clean XHD rapid prototype but does not reflect the final component modifications, also will be on display.

Damn, those look crisp.  If this keeps up, I'm going to have to direct deposit my checks to ESM.

Both the Keyser Valley Caboose kit and the G32C Gondola kit will come with custom-printed Microscale decals.  The only item a modeler will have to supply with any ESM "Made In America" kit is paint.

I know they were never popular. I know you said you would see maybe only one per gondola cut even during Conrail, but damn if I need a few.

Keep in mind that there were only 100 of class G32C gondolas ever.  This was the smallest G32 sub-class, by far.  Yes, they look really cool.  But if you are striving to maintain a prototypical roster, you would be hard-pressed to explain the presence of two of these cars at one time ... and they were far more scarce by the time CR started.  I've only seen two ever, and that was at Oak Island yard over a 20-year period when I was photographing rolling stock on a regular basis.  The two sightings even may have been the same car.

Bryan, I know at least one lasted into 2003. I remember seeing one on the Delaware–Lackawanna next to steamtown. Alcos, funky gondolas and Steamtown. That was a great day.
