Kato Mikado slippage

I have a Kato Mikado with traction tire installed.  It has slipping problems, and it appears that the 4th driver is not making contact with the rails sufficiently.  Has anyone had to file down the third driver axle slot to allow the traction tire to grip the rails better?

I'm first going to change the tires, but filing the third axle slot may be the next option.

Ignore this past post...I think there was some fluid on the track that was getting moved around.  I tried out the engine this evening and it was able to pull 43 cars with a GHQ shell with no problem.

That makes sense. If there was such a drastic design flaw with this Kato engine, it would have been discovered many years ago.
