...I have decided to pull my rollingstock line at the conclusion of the Amhearst show. There is no incentive to continue developing products only to have another manufacturer cut you out of the market...

I have a handful of G22's left and the kits will not be reproduced... Whatever rollingstock kits are not sold this weekend, they will be discarded after orders are filled.

May I suggest that you sleep on your decision. Give it some thought once you've settled down, not in the heat of the moment.

I wouldn't know a G22 gondola if it bit me on the aaaankle, but since loads are being made for them, and no one else is making them RTR, I don't see the sense in stopping production.

Hope you reconsider.

Hmm... yeah, that sounds
like good advice...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

In light of Craig production and Matt's announcement of products I already make, I have decided to pull my rollingstock line at the conclusion of the Amhearst show. There is no incentive to continue developing products only to have another manufacturer cut you out of the market. Therefore I will not be developing decals either.

Bob, I'd definitely reconsider. I doubt anyone is trying to cut you out of the market; more likely they are looking at market research numbers, not what you make. You have a lot of unique rolling stock pieces that will almost certainly never be done in plastic. I can't count how many times I've had products in development only to discover someone beat me to it, or that it already existed. I would have no products at all if I threw in the towel like that. Calm down, enjoy the show, and think things over. Please.

Please reconsider, you have beautiful products that nobody will make. Please help a SPF. With Jason's H10 and DKS's containers, you can't quit now!

I agree take some time and reconsider. I had always heard and thought there was a "gentleman's agreement", naive I know. I'm not in the game, and the H30 announcement rubbed me the wrong way, that's why I questioned it in FVM thread. An H32 would make a nice kit. ;)  I know it sucks, but hang in there.

Dave,

I have enough stock at home to fill IMMEDIATE orders, but I have been on the cusp of deleting rollingstock from the line for several months. Any future releases will be a limited run of 25 to 100 units so I would not be caught with a huge supply of kits when (not if) the RTR guys go after the cars I am doing. Many people put off the purchases since they know the item will always be in my catalog. The waiting game for sales is not an incentive. Neither Craig nor Matt gave me a courtesy heads-up, that is business. The result is still an inventory of expense that is dead and unsellable. Had I got a courtesy nod, I would have done things differently.

That said, I will supply whatever cars people want right now. After that, each item will be removed from the catalog.

Bob, there is a distinct difference between your models and the RTR stuff.  There will always be craftsmen willing to build your models for a museum quality piece of high personal value versus a plastic model of little personal value.  These kits challenge the modeler and although you might experience less sales as a result, they are sales nonetheless.

Please reconsider but I completely understand your feelings.

BTW, I tried to order a G22 gon but the site will not let me.  If you still have some of the g22 kits, please let me know how I can purchase one.  Nothing would look better with David's exquisite containers in it.

I do not own one of these kits and I would really enjoy the experience of building one.  Thanks in advance.

Bob,

I have to agree with Lemonsteam. I have been manufacturing kits for years and the OS (China) manufacturers have been steadily whittling away at my market for years but I still sell the same amount yearly or actually increase sales in some instances. Eventually the modeller realizes that he wants something to do and reverts to building kits.

Ugh. Money is preventing me from ordering 2 of your gons. Now I may never get them?
:(
Reconsider! RTR cars will never be as good as brass kits you assemble yourself (that is, if you're good at it).
Is your website working to order them?

I would reconsider as well, but I know the frustration.
I have been working on a design for a kit for a couple months now.  I have put A LOT of time in it.  I'm really doing it because I want it for me.  If it turns out well I will try and offer it for sale.  It will not be a Athern Blue Shake the Box kit.  If someone like Fox Valley were to offer this item I would still make mine but potential sales would probably be minimal or none.  I think there will always be people who want a superior craftsman kit.

Damn.  And I was waiting anxiously for your Wheel Flat Service cars.  I used to manage BNSF's fleet of them, and your UP cars were close enough to ours.  I wanted at least a couple for the layout and a couple for the desk at work.
