New MTL Body Style announcement

Hi Guys,

Wanted to announce our(MTL) next release,  The Evans 100 Ton Log Car in N scale.  No release date yet, but these came in a variety of East Coast flavors and some near cousins ply the rails on the West Coast and Canada...photo's show these throughout the Midwest as well.   Most of these started life on the East coast with Georgia Pacific and Federal Paper Board Company in the early 1980's.  We will be offering these decorated, painted without any lettering and undecorated as usual.  We will also be doing pulpwood and log loads as appropriate.  Correct ride height and bodymount couplers (draftgear part of the chassis.)  This will also have our new 100 ton trucks.

We are still working on the Diner, so don't dispare.

Cheers

Joe

Interesting car and you really nailed the doors!  :D
I don't need any of these but hope that this is a big success.

Best wishes, Dave

Excellent news regarding the ride height, body-mounts with integrated draft gear, and the proper trucks.

I'm in!  These log cars will add some nice variety to the fleet.  I appreciate the efforts MTL is putting into the new body styles, e.g., ride height, body-mounted couplers, etc.  Thanks, Joe!

Anyone know if these also carried phone poles? I have no need for logs cars.

Yes, Poles, Pipes and I even saw two going by up near Roseburg with two wrecked gons on their sides, strapped to the spine...

I've got some 2005 photos of several CPR log cars that are very similar to these, being loaded with utility poles.  There is also an idler flatcar between these log cars as the poles exceeded the log cars length by more than 10 feet. --Brian

Great news on the improvements. I hope this car does well for MT and is a sign of things to come. I've got a soft spot for MT and I have sent alot of money to them over the years, so I'd like to see them do well. Maybe prototypical accurracy will become the standard.

Wow, what a surprise! As a frequent visitor to Weed, CA I have seen these cars many times and have printed Ryan's photos to put in my "wish there was a model for this" file. I will probably retire my Walthers log cars and replace them with these. Anyone know how long they are? 60'?  8)

PS - Agree, gotta have the Roseburg cars!

Those look to be a more than acceptable stand in for the CPR cars.... this might hurt.....

Thanks for the heads up Joe; now, if you'd just forget that "Standard Railroad" nonsense and tool that there diner for the "World's Most Complete Transportation System" then we'd be properly giddy......

EDIT: How long are these things; the 304600 series of CP Rail cars ar 62' long with 8 fixed stakes, these look longer.

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!
