At times, the photos look a lot better than how it really is on the layout; sometimes, a photo can't capture how a scene looks.

Bob, those trees look really good.  I also liked the one with the D&H Alco RS-3 which you posted in Weekend Update.

There is a certain something that photos add to models. I wasn't too sure of my weathering job on my F25 until I took a picture of it and was blown away at how good it actually looked.

Thanks guys.  I'm finding taking photos of things I just worked on helps a lot: finding errors or things done right.  Usually the latter.

Put in another few trees in an area that isn't in the way of other layout work.  Like in gardening, I'm trying to keep the plantings to odd numbers.  Plants just seem more "natural" in odd groupings.  (like the one we'll be having tomorrow  )



Looking at the above, I'm really going to have to start working on underbrush, and other forest floor details.

You may consider mixing in some other types (Woodland Scenics, Bachmann, JTT or whomever) just to create a contrast.

+1 for JTT trees.

They're outstanding.

They're pricey, but they are sweet looking trees.

The Bachmann's aren't bad for the price– I was surprised when I first saw them.

Even the Woodland Scenics can be placed here & there and lend good affect if you poly-fiber the limbs instead of using clump foliage.  Finishing off the trunks helps too.

What all these trees bring that Super Trees don't are thicker trunks– you need some of those.  Mixing thick-trunk and thin-trunk trees makes a better overall presentation IMO.

They are tall when you come around a corner doing 40 mph and a oak with a 30" diameter is laying across the tracks about 3 feet up off the ground lol.

The Vermissa Valley was pleased to host a gathering of local a$$hats and SPFs today.  They are pictured here holding up a piece of ceremonial bacon.
