Coupler mount on MT 60 ft boxcar

There have been many comments on the odd coupler mounting on the new MT 60 ft boxcar.  For those that don't like the way it looks, here is an easy solution.  If this has been suggested before, I apologize, and this thread can be locked.

I have one of the old Con-Cor Greenville boxcars, same prototype, same odd doors, everything.  It came with the long wheelbase, and I needed the short, so cut a chunk out of the middle of the floor.  The gaps at the ends were filled with styrene sheet.

The same idea could be used on the MT car without changing the wheelbase.  Just cut the ends off, coupler and all, and glue a piece of plastic in the hole.  It would then be easy to mount the coupler of your choice however you like.  Total time would only be a few minutes work, plus however long it takes for the glue and paint to dry.  The steps could be reused by filing any needed notches in the plastic.

You also could file the coupler pad down, and mount a #1016.

True, but for me, cutting the end off would be easier and quicker than filing it accurately!
