That's good! You'll still have a foob but if you like it, that's all that matters. But I also see an error in that logo compilation (not related to your era). The font in the 1973 logo is wrong (way too modern). The 1973 logo would have used a font which was similar to the one used on the 1962 logo. I know it makes not difference in this case, but I just felt the need to point that out.
Not pulling the billboard off with blue tape is the only risk . How strong is MTL's multi colored artwork on their cars ?
I never put masking tape over that type of graphics but it should be similar to everything else they Tampo-print on the cars. It is a white rectangle with CYMK layers over it. I suspect that the blue masking tape will work fine.On the newer cars with graffiti they use some sort of CYMK ink jet printer (and that ink can run from a wet coat of Dullcote) but these older Pepsi cars AFAIK, were done with Tampo method.
