Great looking job Pud!! A couple of things I noticed. Are you going to change the headlight on the long hood
end and you might want to put a thin plate over part of the winterization hatch just as they have.

I learned of these units late in their service life, long after they had been reconfigured to a more standard air tank arrangement, through an article in Model Railroader... and I fell in love with them.  Wouldn't mind it if I could have some units like this as well but dieseldom is a couple years away in my era and I really don't want to change my timeline.

Another kitbashing you might want to consider is CP 8901 - 8904, the Train Masters built for passenger service with a wide short hood and stub nose.  Haven't been able to find prototype photos but here are some great shots of a HO scale brass model made by Division Point that show the detail involved.  Honestly I wouldn't mind having a few of these myself!!!

Puddington, that's an awesome Geep, and will look stunning in action red.  Great overhead prototype photos too.  These are the photos we need, yet are so hard to find.

No modelling for me due to a trip out to BC.  I visited the Fraser Canyon and a maintenance crew let me get close and personal with the Cisco Bridge during a maintenance block    However, all my pictures were lost due to a memory card issue    Still, seeing the Fraser Canyon again has convinced me that I have picked the right theme for a new layout.

The real highlight of my trip was meeting up with Gary Hinshaw and Mark Dance and to see and operate their layouts.  Photos don't do either layout justice- Mark's is glorious and all aspects are superbly crafted.  It ran flawlessly and this novice was able to run the pushers without putting the train on the dirt.

Gary's vision for Tehachaphi is fantastic and his benchwork and track are better in person than his posts would suggest.  Now that I have seen it and operated it, I am looking forward to seeing it evolve.  Sign me up for the remote dispatcher!

Sorry to disappoint 


I built the kit about 6 years ago and last week it took me all week to find where I put those silos. I do plan to use Eral's Oils as a scale house on the end. And I guess I need some sort of dust collector cyclone up on the roof. Mine will be more of a supply house than a feed mill. The building isn't done and I may wrap the silos with some metal colored thread for bands.
