I haven't been to one since the mid 1990's (!) but the one I was lats at was great.  With in-laws in Green Bay I may try to make this years.

Went to the one in Virginia quie a few years ago.  It was one of the combined ones.  Had a great time and they had some huge layouts running.  Waiting for the day it returns to VA.

The modutrak layout will be there as well as a couple of n-trak layouts.  It looks like the "show" will not be as big this year.

The only one I've been to was 2008 in KY but it was a blast, it too was a combined show. I'm shure it will at least better than a large local show. I'm not shure if I will be able to make it this year but the thought had crosed my mind. looks like they have a lot of local brewers open to tour and a few layouts.

Your layouts nice, but it needs more Conrail !

I should be quick to point out that 2008 was a unique event. It was a triple combination - NSC and N-Trak conventions, and World's Greatest Hobby show. That's going to be a tough convergence to duplicate.

Attended the last two. I'd rate 2011 "meh" and 2012 "total waste of air fare."

The only thing NSC 2013 has going for it is Milwaukee, which is a great place for observing trains of all sizes.

David, can you elaborate a little on why you didn't like it?

I was thinking of going, if for nothing else, just to ask the Modutrack guys if their layout is Z scale.  :D
I’m not here to argue

Maybe we need to have DKS set up next to Modutrak so we can show them what Z scale really is, David, are you available???

Aren't the Butterburgers from Culvers? But point taken!

They like it better if you complain that the layout is too high for kids to see/touch!

The only downside to Milwaukee is that it is my hometown and I have to carve time out to visit family. Individually we are okay, but an entire house full of Schneiders is no treat...

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

That's what I'm concerned with.. My other vacation option is fishing in Alaska, so there is some stiff competition.. But personal circumstances allows me the opportunity to go to Alaska almost every summer if I want too.. I went this year 2012, and if Milwaukee is worth it, I'll just go again in 2014.. If the convention looks to be a fizzle.. I'll shoot for Alaska and Trainfest.

There are no fish left in Alaska. You might want to try walleye fishing in Minnesota!

Best wishes, Dave

Ian, I attended 2010 and 2012 and had a blast at both!!! 2012 was a different convention as it was the homecoming to Microtrains in Medford. Medford did not have the large hotels and ballroom spaces and is lacking in home layouts, but they put on a great show. It really depends on what you want to do at the convention, ntrak layouts, home tours, other tours, contests, banquet, room sales, afterhours disscussion. 2013 will be in a large city and have full convention halls, I do not know of the home layouts or tours planned but a group of n scalers plan on some PRE and POST convention trips!
