I wondered how long it would take for this thread to turn into rivet-counting!
I left the rivets on the end panel mostly because this is Rutland and who cares? I did find a photo of one in Chicago on a Pennsy transfer in 1962, so I matched the poorly paint matched reweigh data and weathered per the photo. The paint scheme seemed to be in pretty good condition, just dirty.
Another comparo:...Interestingly, the height difference is something I always noticed when comparing the ancient Atlas 40 footers to the MTL one - I always figured the Atlas box car was too short ...New Atlas PS1 on left, Atlas 40' kit (from way back!) in center, original release Kadee PS1 on right.Wow, this has me looking at my entire Kadee/MTL box car fleet (even 50 footers), some of which I bought new back in the early 70s ... I assume for some of the releases the side height is not as far off compared to prototype (or quasi proto)?Mark
Tracks are models too. Weather that rail.
Sorry for the necro, but wanted to share some info that I found while browsing through a couple of books. The B&M received 3 orders of PS1 40' boxcars.1947 (#74000-74999) 7' Superior Door1951 (#75000-75749) 7' Youngstown Door1957 (#76000-76538) 8' Superior DoorThe new Atlas model has the correct door (7' Youngstown) for the number series they used (#75000-75749), but it appears from pics on the web that the build date is stencilled 1947 rather than 1951.Could someone verify that? Not that great of a problem, but just wanted to know.....
Verified. I have both B&M 75000 series cars and both have BLT and NEW date of 9-47.
