Just contacted WOT via web form trying to figure out how we're supposed to order these ...

Apparently these will only be available direct from WOT:

A must have for early container traffic!

Hi Mark,

Yes, our secret not so secret project.  It's been a little bit of drawn out product development process.  I will be posting the latest pre-production shots of the containers.  The chassis is being reworked since we have run into some casting problems.

Stay tuned by getting some RSS feed from our Blog.  It looks like a few more weeks before we start pre-orders.

Thank you for your interest in the SeaLands.

Ordered a pair along with decals (I didn't realize that nobody else made era appropriate Sea Land decals!). Here's the link:

Will try to get these together and finished this month and post pix. These are essential components of early 70s COFC on "my" portion of the N&W. 8)

Was just figuring how many I would need to populate just the outside visible 5-high stacks of a 1970s 500' container ship--(about 8 x 5 x 2=80)--wow!

Microscale used to have a sheet that did those two styles of SeaLand lettering... did it get the axe?

Got mine today - some pix:

The containers do not come with bottoms:

The resin castings are a bit crude compared with my other (injection molded) containers, but the decals are excellent and hopefully the finished models will fit in nicely.

These were a bit of a splurge for me as with decals the pair came in at $20 a piece! On the other hand they are a must have for my era and locale.

Ouch! That is a bit pricey for something you have to clean-up, paint and decal.  That is more than the pre-decorated (and well-molded) Kato containers.  But if you really need them...

Duh! :D Kato does not make containers that fit 60s-70s.

For modern stuff plenty from:

Deluxe
Concor
Walthers
Kato
more?

I know that the WOT resin containers are the only models of the specific containers you were looking for. I was strictly comparing cost of containers in general. But I guess if someone makes a unique item, then can charge premium price for that item. Even if assembly (or cleanup) and decorating is required.  :D

Well yeah, I totally agree. Lots of limited availability stuff is like that though. :D
