Gets better!

Only just noticed that there are two different locos in picture. The one without coupler shroud and truck covers appears to be 'Silver Speed'......

I think McJaco needs to go play over at Trainboard where everything is peaches and roses.   :ashat:

I share the same concerns Jason... the nose looks like it has too much real estate up top.

Oh come on now.

I think I've got a side shot of Silver Pilot at home, I'll have to look.  I will agree that the top looks a bit too long.  Can you honestly think that with a prototype that close to home they wouldn't have gone out to do measurements???

Looks like new truck tooling also, on the left hand unit.
I’m not here to argue

Stuff like this cracks me up! Judging the accuracy of a model from a poorly taken photo... Get real.

+1  How about we wait until someone has one of these babies in their hot little hands and takes a micrometer to it?

That picture definitely looks better. The angles look good. The parting line on the nose is a bit annoying though.

I can imagine 80 different ways to attempt to measure the complex curved nose of an E unit nose and still screw it up in cad.  In fact, more manufactures have screwed up than gotten it right.

Isn't the nose cast as one piece anyway?

For me it corroborates what I was seeing in the first photo and why I started this thread.  :(

Thinking like that would kill off at least half of all internet discussion  :D :D :D.

Real locomotive noses are definitely NOT castings.  They are fabricated.
