Monon "The Hoosier Line"

This is some of Monons Passenger trains.
First is the Crimson Red and Grey collector set from Con-Cor, with F3 A-A that I numbered #81A & #81B for "The Hoosier". Both units are powered.
Since Monon never ran or owned a vista dome car or B unit in their passenger sets I removed the B unit and painted a Full Baggage for this set.

Eventually all Crimson Red and Grey sets were repainted in Black and Gold in the early 60's.
I custom painted this set using a set of Kato F3's numbered in #85A and #85B.

Heres a pic from top to bottom of "The Hoosier", and another Crimson Red and Grey set numbered #83A and #83B for the "The Tippecanoe". Both units are powered.

Heres a few pics of some of Monon's steamers I painted.
Con-Cor USRA 2-10-2 #604, Kato Mikado's #570 and #573, Model Power Pacific #443.

Heres some other Monon diesels that I painted, Kato F3 A-B-A (all units powered) freight A-A numbered #64A and #64B with "The Hoosier Line" on the sides, Fleschmann F3 A-B-A (all units powered) freight A-A numbered #65A and #65B with "Monon" on the sides and a Kato NW2 switcher #13.

Heres a pair of more custom painted RS-2's #24 and #27, also Lifelike factory painted BL2's #31, #34 and #36.

And last Atlas C420's #505, #506 and #507, Atlas U23B's #601 and #603 and Atlas H14-44 #46.

Next up and pictured will be Monon freight cars.
With quite a few box cars I painted as well.

I get the feeling you are a Monon fan!!!! :o

Very nice work.  Railroad right out of my back yard.  I get the itch occaisionally to do a custom set up for a short coach train.

Very nice work on the Monon passenger sets; they certainly had an eye for colour schemes. (helps if you can tug on the heartstrings of your two home town universities with their colours)

I remember being a kid of about 7 an getting an HO Monon gold and black six wheel Alco engine and being in love with it....colour sells !
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!
