I worked on those type trailers for many years, love to have some for the newly released Medusa Cement, but I`ll wait for a few pics..they would be perfect with the Athearn R Model Mack.

I ordered Mark's Ventilated Boxcars, and those rock.
I also was the guinea pig for his steam donkey crane: a lot of great detail & it looks awesome.

Some of the finer rods broke in transit, partly due to being very thin, partly because of the packaging Shapeways used (inflated small pillows).
I talked to Mark and he redesigned it to hold up better (added some support spars that you can cut away), and, since he designed the trailers after that, I'm assuming he applied the same idea to these (though these don't seem to have nearly as many of the more fragile-looking parts as the steam donkey).

I also talked to the Dutch crew about the packing material issues, and they seemed very receptive (and helpful: they refunded my money and let me keep the model), so hopefully things are packed better now in less oppressive pillows.

The small round boiler with very thin pipes on the steam donkey came out great, so I don't see why the larger trailers wouldn't.
Will be interesting to see, whenever someone gets them (they're about 60 years too late for my layout ;) )

This is a unique and much needed model.  Glad someone came out with it. Hope it works out. Unfortunately, I need the older version.

Funny how these days $36 seems like so much money.

Well, sure enough, I was contacted by Shapeways.  I was told that these cannot be printed as designed.  I am getting a full refund.

I will say that communication with the folks at Shapeways was great and there was no problem getting the refund.  I just can't figure out why they would take orders without at least doing one pre-production run.

Oh well.

I heard from Mark Watson, who designed the trailers.  Some of the parts were too thin as designed.  He has refined the specifications and they should be able to go into production.  At this point, I will wait for Mark's photos of the actual model before ordering.

I have to emphasize how good the communication was with Shapeways.  I still have high hopes for these trailers.

Sorry to all for the "resurrection" of this thread...

Eric (or anyone else); Have you heard any updates on these trailers? Are they being redesigned or is this a dead end product?

Mark Watson got back to me.  He has redesigned the artwork (ladder thickness issue) and should be getting a delivery of production sample in the next couple of weeks.  I really want to see a photo of it before I order again.

This looks good, but I am very hesitant to buy anything on Shapeways without a guarantee of quality.

On a similar note, how about an Oshkosh mixer-over-cab model?
