Set up to run MTL FT A/B units n-SCALE

I contracted the installation of digitrax decoders in two sets of MTL FT A/B units.
When I placed the B units on the track without the A units, the B ran in reverse with the controller set forward.
I finally started experimenting and have an FT A with address 1120 and the B with address 1121, then I put them in consist and designated the B direction as reverse.  This seems to work okay.
I am not certain if there is a better alternative.

I have had to reprogramming all four units back to factory settings just to get them to run.  Do not know what that means.  Thanks.

CV 29 contains the setting for Normal Direction Of Travel (NDOT).  In the case of the B unit, once you reset the decoder, the value of CV 29 will be 6 (default).  To change the NDOT, set CV 29 to 7.

From there there you can give both the A and B the same address and the will run together.

To add to Jason's post.  Add 1 to the value in CV29 to make the decoder run with its normal direction reversed. This will work with any value in CV29 as long as the decoder has the capability and most do. Even numbers go normal, odd values run reverse.

So in your case, once the address has been changed to 1121, the value in CV29 will be 38. Change it to 39 and the unit will run in reverse.

The one additional issue I notice is that the light on the locomotive(s) is going on or off with the increase and decrease in speed.   :?

Now that's really weird!  I'm starting to wonder about the quality of the conversion job.  I don't know of any CV setting that would cause the headlight to emulate a DC mode.     If you are in fact running it on DCC then something sounds mis-wired.
