The one thing that hit me last night was that I should have done a lot of interior work on the houses before I sealed them in with mud. 
I should have installed some black - painted styrene floors inside. I also should have installed some curtains in the windows. 
Ah well, this is what you get from a train fan who is not an interior decorator. Rats.

You can take solace in the fact that the quality of your modeling draws the eyes away from the interior of the houses...at least it appears your blacked out the interiors so it makes it even less noticeable IMO.

You are all very kind. Thank you for that. All things look better from a distance, as they do when you view the whole scene and not just these close ups.

Frankly, I think it could have been done a bit better.

- The alignment is not always perfect. It looks better or worse depending on the angles you view it at.
- The sidewalks dead end in some cases. I might try some cover for that. The backgrounds were a bit of an afterthought, admittedly.
- Its very easy to see where the road ends and the backdrops begin. It was hard to match the colors in the local photo printing place. I might try some of those tricks by that
   fellow from Indiana. 

Alas, I'm not really done with any of these scenes, including this one. I'll likely go back and fiddle with them later.

Again, when you take in the whole scene, it looks better. And for me, that will likely be acceptable. I may chalk some things up to experience and move on. Isn't that always the way with layouts?

Ok, this is not the picture I am going to use here. Fear not. I am posting this to show part of the process for selecting pictures. Careful observers, and even careless ones, will note that the picture was taken from one side of the street, yielding a distorted angle for the modeled road. Mind you, the scene will not be viewed from this high of an angle.
 







One could argue that this picure would be made to work for this scene, but lets look at some other choices first...

Do you plan to blend the photos at all?  If you used the same paint as the backdrop it could work quite nicely.

I know its so wrong for the WC era but I could not resist adding this detail to the Waupaca depot. No orders today. Its Sunday.

He said he had some issues that would take him away from the hobby for a time. I hoped he would check in. But I am not surprised to not hear from him.
