I owe all of you an apology. The layout is not dead. My previous posting was all part of an elaborate April 1st hoax to be played on a friend of mine (and layout consultant). It amazed me that it took three weeks for him to surf the internets and begin to question that the layout was no more. But serendipity can occur sometimes, which made the hoax last that long. Kudos to those of you that realized it was all false. The secret was revealed yesterday as he arrived to help me tear down the last of the benchwork. One friend even suggested that I ask him to move his car to a different part of the driveway as he arrived, as the dumpster was going to be placed where he parked. In reality, the whole purpose of his visit was just to have "the train guys" over, eat food, and just run some trains a while. It was a great gathering.

 :D. So I admit I was "got" by the greatest prank I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.   From the moment I caught the "rumor" of the layout's demise to the news of his rolling stock collection being destroyed I was completely sucked in.  Quite distraught to be honest. Over a few days I offered my assistance for everything from cleaning engines to paying for therapy.  When I got the call to bring my hammer and crowbar over i didn't hesitate.  The video of me arriving in the basement shows me offering words of consolation and encouragement just before realizing the darned thing was intact.  After the announcement of April Fools, numerous cuss words fly as I joyfully assault Mr. Neal and his accomplices.  I still can't wipe the smile from my face.

Glad to see that this layout wasn't destroyed.....although when I see those beautiful Milwaukee Road units painted as Bandits I think you are tempting the gods. Maybe not a flood, but a spilled drink on the carpet!

None of my Milwaukees will be treated in such a manner. I think its salt in the wounds myself. I think it'd be much more fun to put the tracks back, in a scale way.
