Looking really good. Really getting the feel of WI I remember from my summers spent there.

Awfully kind Ian.
I raised my "Z scale" warehouse. Sometimes, with family around, the 15 minute projects are an entire evenings work. Say "la vie".

Just wanted to apologize to everyone for not posting in a long time. Just imagine a picture of blackness. I was one of those effected by the storms and power outages this week. I was out of power for the better part of four days. I thought about trying to get some kind of flaslight-lit picture of the layout but... Was it the loss of heat, refrigeration, or light that depressed me? NO. I was not really being able to work on the layout that made me angry! Although I did hold the flashlight on the layout for brief looks while on the way to plug the extension cord in that powered the sump.
Tune in next week, and again, my apologies.

I know this group can be a little harsh at times but, I don't think apologies are necessary, just hope everyone and everything made it through ok.

Finally got around to doing some "muddin'" (pictures before drying):
Work continues at Neenah Foundry. The overhead crane's supports should be a pale blue, forgive me...
Its time to revisit this river crossing...

I'd post more pictures of mudding, but they are pretty boring.
Instead, I spent some time masking my Atlas houses in preparation for Dullcote-ing to remove the factory shine. It makes me think about modeling some urban blight.
I love the smell of Dullcote in the morning...

Another busy night of family obligations.
Sometimes I just stare for a few minutes and then turn in.

Also, some background for this road crossing:
I left too big a gap between the two treelines. This barn seems to cover it fairly well... I guess.
I applied more background for this scene. My friend did the static grass. I added some additional texture.
I also added this "building half" to represent one of the old potato warehouses in Waupaca.
I am still considering elements in this scene. I thought the warehouse might add a new dimension.
A little more work in this scene. More to come.
I discovered that I need to revisit this scene. The instrument house is not even on any kind of foundation!
Its hard to see, but I have been trying to mud around the foundations of these Neenah residences. Now to weather them, get driveways, add details, "mud in" the cul de sac, etc...
Opps, a bit too much next to the door...

I always like your updates. That being said in the picture of the residences with the cul-da-sac terminating near the tracks I am thinking that is a bit out of place. Most roads dead ending into tracks that I have seen are not circles but they simply end or peter out from pavement, to gravel, to dirt, to nothing. Not that there doesn't exist what you modeled, and for all I know it is just that way at the location you are modeling. But that is the thought that struck me when I saw that pic.
I love the warehouse in the background pic.
The overhead crane is really turning out as well.

Great point about the cul de sacs Ryan. A quick google mapping of the area reveals that you are exactly right! (And that I am exactly wrong!) Why I thought they were cul de sacs - who knows. Its funny how my mind just imagined them to exist there. I will change my road endings. Great catch! Thank you!
Doh!
