I love this thread and it's one I can't wait to check daily, just keep doing what you're doing! Many of us have gained a lot of inspiration from your photos, not to mention the techniques covered. If you need to take a couple of weeks off go for it! Just have fun running your trains - the online world will go on without you. When you come back things will be refreshed and your mind will come up with solutions to what's bothering you in the meantime. HAVE FUN WITH THE HOBBY and don't let outside influences get you down!

I wanted to say that my purpose was not to post pictures to get a lot of "atta boys" here. (Of course, they are fun to get you understand.) I knew this was a tougher crowd going in. No worries.  And I do hear those that say other places have too much of that going on.

If I recall, my purpose here was to post my pictures trying to offer up another form of geography. I had some ideas that I wanted to try and wondered if they would "pass" amongst this tougher crowd. While the jury is still out, its nice to hear that it has given others something to watch develop. Honestly, I like that the Railwire is not the "Atta Boy" forum (Mr. Moderator - Could that be a new banner for us?)

When one uses the internet(s), one puts one's self "out there". It is perfectly fine to tell me that my efforts could use improvement. I think posters here were indeed just trying to get me to improve things and suggest ways to do that. I would rather hear that than piles of "atta boys".

I hope that none of you feel that any of your comments caused me to throw up my hands. All of you have been very nice. As they say "Its not you, its me."

I was not planning on quitting. It can now confirm it was a bad day. But after some thought, and a few hits of Dullcote, I simply thought I'd better tune up my skill set before posting more here. I think it needs some work. This was confirmed as I recently tried some scratchbuilding and was not really pleased with the results. Again, I apologize to you all.

I am now wondering if I will ever improve or just wallow in sophomoricness which, as other have stated, is not all that bad. I assure you it is not a case of being burned-out. That can be confirmed by the fact that I immediately jumped into the above scratchbuilding project! Pedro has stated, however truthfully, that my semi-huge project began in 2006. (look of fear). You can be assured that its very likely to continue.

Oh, and I'd post pictures of my freight station but...

Here is a picture of a bad picture of the iconic freight station in Waupaca:





Here is my attempt, for now. I could not locate the correct overhead doors, so I used a couple stand-ins. Who knows, they might have orginally looked like this anyway and will look better for "retro nights". I probably will not attempt to color the individual bricks, as per prototype, because I have a life. I will go back and add some of the handrails and other details however.

I think you have captured the flavor of that station really well. m I especially like the powerline drops - small stuff like that is the hallmark of quality work IMHO.
