I am liking that layout David Grey. I am still tempted to go Unitrack, to get myself up and running faster. I have no issues with it, as this 4x8 I am working on is not a forever layout, something to only use for a few years and practice techniques, ect on. Id be interested in seeing the other side, or a track plan

Nice work Dave.. Nothing like a quick bit of video to bring a layout to life..

I've been working on my D&H signals of late

Looking good! the trackwork looks excellent. How do you make your N.G. switches? Do you use premade, a template or a jig?

-Cody F.

Cody, That trackwork is all handlaid on a little mini layout I built:
/>I just drew centerlines (curved) and built the turnouts to fit. It is C40 rail with PC ties every inch:

It's simple.  Just remove the end doors, paint the interior and change the reporting marks to TTNX.  This is the easiest auto rack modification I've done.

However Vincent models in Horribly Oversized, so he doesn't have the simple removal of the end doors like we do in N with the RC cars, well not with his Walther's models.

I find his sig funny, being we have excellent models of all the models he mentioned except the SW1000 in N.

Started installing the diesel service area and the machine shop on the Free-moN staging yard:

Both the machine shop track and the outer diesel service track can be toggled over to use as programming tracks:

(there are Anderson Powerpole hookups underneath for a portable DCC unit)

And my nomination for the silliest / unnecessary animation:

Got a crew to do some welding while locos are getting programmed.

Well, Silicon Valley Free-moN is going to set up & run trains today at the NMRA Coast Division Meet, so time to start packing the car (staging yard modules, shoofly module, legs for all, toolbox & trains pretty much stuffs me wee mobile to the gills).
Luckily, I can watch the Spain-Italy game and the Croatia-Ireland game on my iPhone, when it's not being used as a WiThrottle ;)
I love technology.

Have a groovy weekend!

After being unable to attend the hobby for the last 5 months (birth of our daughter), I have finally accomplished something.

The first of the class

Here is one of many I am building for the space alien, Ping-Pong extraordinaire Kirk Reddie, Mr EF1

Engine looks great!  Five months with no modeling because of the baby!!!!  A mom and baby who does not nap, that would be tough!!  :D  I have number 3 on the way.  I feel your pain.

flight2000 , I think you and Tom should have a weather competition . Maybe a primer painted diesel that suffered from a fire and was left on the storage track for 2 years to gather rust , weathering , and grime .

New to the Sub (last week, anyway...) - the Firefly FRED! Very nice very compact device - has a page on Facebook if anyone's interested, and sells on the Bay also...

I think it adds to the overall appearance.

It's not really that bright, BTW - long exposure and Helicon Focus.

Pfft, that wouldn't be much of a contest.  Tom is the master, I'm not even in apprentice mode yet... Still learning and I've about worn out his book.

Thanks,
Brian
