I agree that it would be rare to have a problem with the mods/admins here.
As an ex-mod/admin elsewhere (and not only train-related forums), I can only think of an aphorism from my friend and mentor, the late George Higgins, the highly praised novelist (The Friends of Eddie Coyle) and later a columnist for the Boston Globe. George was famous for his zingers. He once wrote in his column, in about 1980, "Editors are just like the rest of us, except their lips move when they read." That's all of it, although there was a backstory about the editing of one of his columns. No one knew the backstory. Most thought it was innocuous and hilarious because of the double meaning: only dim-witted people (i.e., editors) move their lips when they read, yet editors pay a lot of attention to content and grammar, which may be good (attention) or bad (dim-witted). The Globe editors thought it was offensive and suspended him for a month or so. The Boston literati (Higgins' readers) were outraged, but the suspension stood.
I think mods/admins are viewed a lot like editors (or enforcers--read The Friends ...). As an ex-editor and still a writer, (or an ex-admin and still a poster), I really believe mods/admins try to be like the rest of us, except they try to make fewer errors. In many ways, that's futile, but a worthy pursuit. There will always be misunderstandings between posters and mods, and mods will make mistakes just like the rest of us. Just remember that mods also make good judgments most of the time. Some mods help posters with, for example, language barriers or communication disabilities or technical difficulties.
With the advent of Facebook and Twitter, a forum like this now represents the literati of model railroading. I equate "move their lips when they read" with "text while they drive" when it comes to dim-witted.
Pardon the ramble: I've been painting my ships with old Floquil for most of the day. The ships are coming soon: is anyone interested in the Santa Fe 260' car floats, which were very similar to East Coast car floats? I'm building the Santa Fe tugs, so a Santa Fe barge was also in order.
