Atlas high-rise buildings

Atlas announced 10-story add-on sections to their square and rectangular modern 20-story high-rise buildings will be available in June.  I didn't know they had high-rise buildings at all.  Too modern for me but interesting nonetheless.

I mean with work you can use the add ons to make a whole building... but yeah Atlas has been doing some ODD stuff as of late.

I don't ever remember the base kits either.  Guess the add ons would make for some good fodder for other projects.

Consistently  
outbid on he auction site when these come up.  Debating how best to use this kit add-on.  Thinking that it might be easy to build some 'concrete' pillars and use a second kit to add an indented first and second floor.  Rolling a few ideas around but an order for these is an absolute certainty...

Seems odd to say the least..Kinda like that 4-4-0 with no cars to go with it.

If the base kit is long out of stock maybe a another release is on the horizon?

There was a story years ago about the skyscraper kits. Basically, the story goes that an architectural firm was building some n scale sized generic buildings and Atlas got wind of it. Atlas had them produce a suprplus and sold them under their own label. This was in the very early 1990's. Since Atlas didn't own the tooling, there was never a another run made, which leads me to think this is surplus found in their warehouse.

Now it could just be a good warehouse cleaning. But they are also selling broken up Trainman sets too. And then they tries to clean their parts stock out a few months ago before repricing everything. New anouncments have slowed. New tooling has slowed as well.

I think their could be a few things that would cause this:
Selling their company or tooling.
Realigning their product lines to reflect the market (my bet is this).
Liquidating as much product as possible to free up assets for a big purchace (another model train company).
IRS audit.
Changing buildings/facilities.

Might look good with lower concrete floors/lobby/atrium - mated to those parking garages on Ebay....
