I completed an upgrade a MT heavyweight.  The entire underbody equipment was reorganized to match the equipment diagram for an ice-activated air conditioning system.  The ice bunkers are from Bryan's ESM.  The changes were not difficult due to MT's separate underfloor casting.  The car also got lavatory etched glass, interior paint, window shades, American Limited diaphragms, Fox Valley 36" metal wheels, and a light satin finish for the roof.

This week I finished painting all the line poles (and their 500+ insulators) for the South Slocan / Kootenay river scene. So now these scenes are basically done save for scratch-building the South Slocan station.

The poles are modified Atlas poles along with some scratchbuilt line poles and line carriers.  The 26 conductor poles are for Nelson to South Slocan Jn; the 20 conductor poles are for South Slocan to Castlegar Junction; and the 5 conductor poles are for Slocan sub.

Finally closed on the new house that we had built.

How's it MRR-related... Well, there's a room for the layout again (fairly small - 11x12) with a connected dedicated work space (6x9).  So no more being stuck in a 780sqft apartment with no room to do anything.  But now the real railroad has me on the road Sunday through Friday, so not much time to do anything thesedays.

Nice home... congrats !
Mark; can't wait to see the finished product.....

I continued Northern Pacific week......... :scared:

Here we have a pair of NP 40' double doors... the one on the left is an MT car; the one on the right is a custom painted and decorated MT undec....



The custom painted is a bit "hot"... that said, if matched the proto photo for colour and damage quite well....

The next is a rare bear....



The NP had but 5 of these.. albeit not quite the right car (the PS car in question had a different sill and ends) but I will live with it.... The 60' cars were used in paper and pulp service so they fit right in.....

During this past week I managed to complete laying of the roadbed and assembly of the track sections for my main line from Chetwynd to Dawson Creek.

The next step is to paint and weather the track prior to installing feeder wires and drilling holes.  I experimented with painting and weathering on a test piece of track:




Most model railway track I have seen is too dark for the area I am modelling, where the ties have faded to a light brown colour.

Pud, you need to watch out for that NP stuff, it's more addicting than Bacon Infused Bacon with Bacon salt and Baconaise dip.  :trollface: (we need a Ed Smiley, but bacon colored)

As for me, I decided it was time to give casting my GHQ M1A2 abrams another go, this time I got a successfull mold, and I now have 3 usable clones for my DB/US Army armor train. ALl three of my clones need some work, like filling air bubbles, and correcting some inprefections, but I think I can get them good to go for flat car loads. Now I gotta make 6 more of them, and at least 7 more flat german flat cars.

if any of you asshats need Abrams, and are willing to deal with my shitty castings, Let me know!
