Intermountain AC12? performance good or bad

Intermountain is showing Ready in May.Is that 2012 or 2013.I am looking forwarding to running this beauty

Generally they were very well recieved. I had one that the side rods exploded on and it went back to the distributor. At the time they had no more to offer so I am waiting for this batch to arrive for my own.

The only comment was that there are many fragile detail parts and it is hard to disassemble should you need to. They took quite a bit of break in and were a little balky when brand new but freed up as they got run.

This may be in line with Tony's comments, they have a much slower motor, thus ride high on the throttle even after break-in.

I have one from the second run and she is running very nice right from the start. They recommend to oil a few spots before using the loco which I think is good thing to do.

I have one and it is very nice. I put a Tsunami in it and it has been running slowly ever since. I did do the recommended lubrication. I have tweaked the settings a bit on the decoder but I have not managed to break the 15 or 20 MPH scale speed barrier, yet, except when I throw the setting on the booster (DB150) to "HO" instead of "N."

IIRC, about .75 amps. If you'll be installing DCC, use the Tsunami MC2H104OP non-sound decoder (around $20), else go with the Tsunami TSU-1000 sound version ($111 at some online stores). The larger decoder fits perfectly and will keep the AC12 running cool.

I just purchased an AC-12 yesterday from my LHS with a MC2H104OP non-sound chip, and the loco runs terrific! I can't wait for the other announced IM releases.
