Also, I LOVE the placement of the town on the end. The buildings hide the "blob" aspect quite nicely. That's really smart.

I'm modeling October, so peak of foliage.  I thought putting the town on the end gave me the most flexibility interfacing track with town.

I built myself a little shelf for my power pack and wired up a quick a dirty control panel so I can have multiple trains on the layout.  Here's my first two train meets.  Notice the MEC engineer stayed back off the crossing while he was waiting for the BAR to clear :)

Eastern White Pine are plentiful in northern Maine.  To me this looks like a reasonable representation, but it's hard to really judge the effect of a singular tree when it belongs in a forest mixed with deciduous trees in full autumn splendor.

I've been working on my river side of the layout. I've decided that I will have a 2 lane highway running on top of the hill and over a bridge crossing the tracks and off the layout. My second batch of plaster rocks didn't come out as well as my first. There were a lot of air bubbles that needed to be filled, but over all it doesn't look too bad I guess. I have also made some more trees, but I still have hundreds to go. I have been struggling with how to separate the paper mill scene from the river scene, but I think a thickly forested ridge will do the job well.  Anyway, what do you think?

Nice job on the pine tree - I have not yet tried my hand at evergreens, but it is something I cam going to have to tackle at some point.
