1946 LA Movie Footage

For those of you who are into period modeling or are working on LA based projects, here's some footage from the archives that were shot by SP running out of Taylor Yard in 1946.  It's nite time footage, but with the illumination you can get a great feel for track side structures that existed back then.  There are a number of these movies on line that were shot so the Studio's could use them as stock footage for feature films being produced.  Because of the way these are shot, they almost look like models, especially with the cars driving by.  I'll post more later.

Interesting.  I came across a batch of old Trains and in it was an Aug 1959 article on railroading into L.A.  Lists trains numbers, including passenger, towers, various tracks and loads.  Interesting read.

 the best part of the whole thing is you get too see a mail bag grab on the fly!!!!

That was cool , especially being that I was born in '46 . I find it interesting that the staining in the roadbed is so consistent on the mainline and have never seen that actually modeled that way .
