East Coast FreeMoN

Is there any interest in an east coast group of N scale modelers putting together some FreeMoN modules (http://free-mon.wesleysteiner.com/). This standard is gaining traction on the west coast (see M.C.'s recent post). But there does not seem to be a presence on the east coast.

Any interest in putting some together?

It'd be fun, but I've sunk enough into my Onetrak modules that I wouldn't want to reinvent the wheel. Plus, I like BANTRAK.

I've been looking at it, perhaps even retooling my layout to use it's standards. There isn't anything around here in N, there are HO clubs around though. If it gets off the ground here, I may be up for joining,

Ed, as a fellow BANTRAKer and owner of OneTrak and NTrak modules, I don't disagree.

My interest is over the modeling aspect of FreeMoN, and the general desire among FreeMoN for operations in a modular fashion. I have been following Capitol FreeMo and they are all about operations.

I'd be in.  I've tried to get into the Ntrak thing, but I just can't get past the lowest common denominator thing.

I'm pretty much fully invested with MARRS and the Smart-N standard (http://marrsweb.org/smrtnstd.html).

(Yes, it's yet another "lowest common denominator" standard. But in our defense, we predate both oNeTrak and Free-MoN... )

I would just as soon see if we can't use the BANTRAK 1T modules .. they are non-standard to begin with ..

Put 3-5 more tracks on there, add catenary, and I'm in. However, even if not, you guys can still tie on FreeMoN modules when I set up the Heavy Electrified Division layout. As the HED modules will adjust to 50" and have track and electrical standards close enough to interface, this should be no problem. I'm specifically building these as cross-standards-compliant with the intent to be able to use them in *any* layout of the popular given modular group types, be it FreeMoN, Ntrak, Smart-N, ModuTrak, etc. While some (like Ntrak) will require adapter modules, I've got no issue providing those.
