I'm still not thrilled with the Pennsy scheme.  It's the passenger sharknose scheme.

I whole-heartedly agree.  Of course, I've got my own ideas about what it should look like.

NS put the Conrail Heritage unit to work yesterday (20-Mar-2012) on a coal train across western PA and NE Ohio

Leading 3 other new ES44AC's and 2 SD70ACe's with Top Gon hoppers.

I'm guessing 6 power units was in case something went wrong with one of the new ones, or perhaps just moving power around.

I read that the NKP unit will be leaving Altoona at the end of the week.  Anyone got any more info on this?

What's the K after the road number mean? Power pool? Inspection rotation?

Computer check digit. Calculated based on the digits in the road number.

for the funky curves that sure is beautiful; I'm glad the Tuxedo went to the Savannah and Atlanta unit, because now there's a bit of a variety  :)

NS Locos

NS 8105, which is slated to become the Interstate RR heritage unit, is
dead in tow on train 117 this evening headed for Chattanooga for paint.
The unit was reported to have been seen in Erie when it was released
from the GE plant, in primer paint with bright silver trucks and running gear!

8100 was photographed and uploaded to railpictures today. The NKP paint is very flashy on it.

My only question is why did they leave that old rusty coupler on that freshly painted unit; they could have at least given that a coat of black paint too!
