Didn't Seaboard System handle the midwest route? Somewhere I have a promotional cassette tape that was issued by the SS with Johnny Cash leaning out of the cab of a grey diesel, and it was titled the "Orange Blossom Special"... It was a bunch of old Cash train songs compiled... It was either a juice train, or a direct piggy back service... I can't remember.Lee
... But Red Caboose doesn't have a 57' mechanical reefer, ...
True, they could have clarified it. But Red Caboose doesn't have a 57' mechanical reefer, so it's the 62' car that's being used. BTW, there have been a ton of 62' Tropicana cars released by Red Caboose over the years, in multiple schemes. Not all of the schemes announced by IMRC this month, but it's not as if this is the first time prototypical N scale models of cars from the Juice Train we be produced.
Did they go back to Florida as a unit train? I seem to remember seeing some riding out of Philly in the 90`s mixed in with a manifest freight.
Need an expert to tell us the timeframe for each model. I always liked to old orange ones myself.
Oops... yes they do. I have about 45 of 'em, in PFE. Go to Intermountain's site, and look in both Red Caboose and Intermountain. The 57-foot mechs are at the bottom of each page.
mmmm Dave's affinity for Tropicana plus Tim's (POVC) affinity for Tropicana = a few new options for local manifest fast freights during Op Sessions...
I would love it, Eric, but it would only be a roundy-round train with no real ops potential other than to tie up the mainline. That is, unless, of course, you added a Tropicana plant on the layout. DFF
I guess that means it's possible they are doing the scheme on the incorrect body.
