I'm not one to throw a hissy fit ...BUT. People are always complaining about spacing on truck or body mounted MT couplers. Holy crapola batman! You could drive a semi between the boxcars in that video...and they ARE body mounted from the manufacturer !!

You DO realize that the prototype utilized a cushioned underframe with extended draft gear that compressed if the impact was too great, correct?     And that the overwhelming number of prototypes that employ cushioned underframes have extended draft gear?  The model matches the prototype.

One of the design challenges of this model was simulating the extended draft gear.  If the car was equipped with a standard underframe and draft gear, as on the XIH boxcar, the new design with the coupler box screw not traveling through the pivot post (to remain hidden from view) wouldn't have been necessary.

Someone measure the distance. Compare to proto distance on two like cars. If the spacing is within a few inches...as required by you guys over here on RW on most anything else. I'll eat my hat. TY

Looks great Bryan!  I suspect that the spacing would have to be slightly wider than the prototype due to the lack of a scale coupler. Glad to see that ESM didn't compromise on the issues that it could control. The cushioned draft gear looks great and I have already ordered three of these cars.

I dont understand why the distance on the models cant be measured and posted. Ita simple request and a simple reply would be appreciated. I get the arguement is prototypical yet no one will verify that. i wonder why ...hmmmm
