That really was about the lowest-class thing I've seen in this hobby.  Makes the UP suits and the MTH/Lionel buffoonery seem high-brow by comparison.

I'm not buying Arizona Rock and Mineral any time soon.

I have always used WS - Miles Hale was a great modeler
and one of the primary reasons for their super growth. Miles
and David Frary taught me how to make my own foliage
clusters from pickled lichen mixed with WS grass turf. I
remember when a Micheal's MJD was closing out of train
stuff in 92 when I lived in Dallas and all of the WS was half
price, I bought everything and I still have most of it. Wasn't
a time I would make a large purchase at the LHS and some
of it was WS stuff.

Come to think of it, he could have worded it better and invited customers to use
his product and a message to WS to get back on their feet soon. Would 've been
more acceptable.

As for WS, that utterly sucks, I hope they get back on their feet, as they are such a huge supporter of the hobby! I use a ton of their stuff. ( I think since I was 8yrs old too)

Even if the intent was "Hey model railroaders, the world's not over, there are other sources out there," it came off as completely tasteless.  There's a time and place for that, but holy facepalm, this wasn't it.

Wow, not a good day for scenery.  First off may I say I send my best to all who work for Woodland Scenic, and for their sakes, a speedy rebuild!  Second, I love both WS and AR&M products, and I am double disappointed with AR&M response.  I hope that AR&M responds back with an public apology to Woodland Scenic.  I just hope this was just a stupid remark and nothing more!

Terrible news, but thankfully no one was hurt.  All the best to the WS folk and hope the insurance allows them to rebuild.

The main thing I'd be concerned about is the tooling they controlled.  Are DPM products produced at the same facility?  Will we no longer have Gripp's Luggage and that big hotel to kitbash?  Will they actually be forced to come up with some new designs?

The ground foam part of the business will be back up and running in no time, what's that need, an old couch, a blender and some green dye...  But the models... yeesh.  Although I suspect that since they've gone to the prebuilt structures, all that stuff is safely nestled in Bing Bangaloo...  But if the old DPM kit tooling was sitting idle on a shelf in the attic, it's gone forever.

This is a terrible loss to our community... let's hope a nice Phoenix rises from the ashes.

If they have to start the ground foam inventory from scratch, I hope they have a way to match colors exactly from previous runs...  I use a lot of their green blend grass and their gray blend crushed-walnut ballast.  Whether the ballast is as good as other products (Highball, unsanded grout, etc) is less important than the fact that it's what I used, so any changes to the layout will need to blend.  I plan to stock up here on existing supply.
