The purpose of this thread is to bring this into Joe's radar ...  :D

I learned in this thread: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=25233.0 that the MTL single dome tank is not based on a 10,000 gallon proto as I thought but is really a roughly 12,000 gallon design.

I checked two examples of the MTL car in my possession and found that they are lettered as 8,000 gallon cars.

So, let's hope some future releases are based more on 12K cars! 8)

Actually, I think it was determined down-thread that the model is based on the 12,000 gallon tankcar.  But you're right in that we would be hard-pressed to find any of the schemes released on the model to be from a 12,000-gallon prototype, which is disappointing because it was a great model when it came out 30-or-so years ago and it still holds up well today.

I suspect, but will have to go over the files, that this is a 12K tank car.  What may have happened is that we had a photo and the girls doing the graphics may not have made out or had info on the capacity?  Not an excuse, but we don't always have the best info but feel the car is important enough to do.  I talk to graphics on Tuesday and see what gives.

Thanks

Joe

Gozer the Traveler. He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor!

...and the girls doing the graphics...

Why blame it on the girls... isn't there a train guy reviewing their work?

Nevermind, I don't really want to know the answer to that question.

So much potential at MTL...
