I'm guessing that the 50' PRR plug door is an X53...  Cool that it would hit the streets the same month that the PRR X58s from ESM would hit the ocean!

It's masquerading as an X53, yes.  Better that it appears now before the ESM cars arrive.  Ironically, PRR 21019 is the road number on the model as well as in the photo.

I know what you mean about modeling the 1960s.  I have always had similar tugs, as that is the decade I became aware of trains and there are so many great prototypes to model from that decade.  But, many of those same prototypes lasted to early Conrail so that is how I get my fix.  Here's some irony - I won't be able to use an as-built X58 on my own layout, as it is too late for New Haven 1958 and too early for Conrail 1980.  I'll settle for one of the Pennsy cars that lasted to 1980 with roofwalk intact, but of course it will have the additional 1970 details added.  And I won't be able to justify one of the LV Snowbirds in pristine condition, which truly is disappointing.

Yep.  Remember that the fantasy and bright color stuff subsidizes the prototypical stuff, so just ignore the schemes that aren't "correct" and pick/choose from the prototypical or near-prototypical offerings.

Yup.

Same with the CP Script 48' a few months back. Sigh.

What I don't get is that they also have a 40' and 45' trailer, of which I assume the 40' would be at least plausible for both B&O and CP Script (which was replace with the multimark in 1968).

I'll bite on the CP heavyweight, though, being a hypocrite and all... and the CN DSD box runner pack if they've no roofwalks.

I knew about the CPR HW coach; albeit the few CPR paired window, steel side HW coahces were hard to find.... but WTH; I'll bite...................

Thats why I was so confused. They do have 4-' and 45' trailers. While all are too wide for anything prior to the 80's, at least you could gen the general length right.

Lord knows these would look a lot better on Athearns Z-Van or Trainworx trailers.

The MTL model is correct for the Conrail Mercury scheme.  The B&O scheme already has appeared on the Athearn trailer.

So last month's excuse for a lack of B&O coaches was a production time issue and that the B&O scheme would eat up too much production time due to its complexity. 

Which continues to hold up this month because the UP scheme is much simpler than B&O.  Oh wait...
