How to remove roof - Athearn Overland Passenger cars

I ordered a single coach which I hope to repaint.  Now I am puzzled about removing the roof assembly and window glazing.
I am hesistant to pry the roof off.

The first run under the Athearn name had the roof glued on, making removal very difficult to remove.  You could check the N-scale Varnish archives by searching "Athearn Overland"... there may be some ideas that will help you.  A number of modelers complained and they decided to listen.  Unfortunately a number of these glued models remain on the shelves.

Here are a links talking about this.  As mentioned, the roofs can be pried off without damaging the rest of the shell, if one is careful...

 Does it have McHenry couplers? If so, it pretty much has to be the most recent release.
