I don't get why Atlas has never done any Rock Island as-delivered (non-TT), maroon with stripes or wings, maroon/red or even red/yellow gp7s.  :?

I think RI had one of the larger fleets of GP7s and there weren't many better schemes than the Rocket scheme.

Jason,
Yes, Rock Island had the largest fleet of GP7's, I think it was 125 units total.  Not sure if that included all the rebuild's after the CRP [Capitol Rebuilding Program] or not.

I agree with you, it would be nice to see more of the Maroon scheme variations as well as the Red and Yellow scheme.  I think there has only been three units released in the Red and Yellow in N scale.  Atlas's U25B from the first release, KATO's U30C and then LifeLike's GP18.

too bad they did not include the GP7 that the Cotton Belt had...it was the only GP on the SP/SSW roster that did not have DB's

Since we are all going to complain about a release as soon as it's announced.... :D
More silver and orange GPs.  What about New Image, or even Perlman green?   Considering the variations between units in the same scheme its amazing they produce anything, black or white stripe, single stripe, or stripes all the way up, font size/placement.

Can't model worth a darn, but can research like an SOB.

Never in N scale?  You're certain?  Isn't it possible to remove the torpedo tubes and normalize the roof for standard units without marring the paint scheme?

The irony is, if I remember correctly, that when Atlas introduced their HO state-of-the-art GP7 in the late 1990s that everyone freaked over because it was the first diesel engine to have an MSRP over $100, the Rock Island as-delivered was in the first batch.

Up until last year, I bought most RI stuff for the 60's and 70's, and I'm pretty certain that the as-delivered TTs and the Blue and White have been it for GP7s.   Secondary roads aren't worth current pricing for me, so it's not a big deal anymore.  I just always thought it was weird.

As for the TT GPs, one could probably take off the tubes and swap the tank, but you'd still be left with an incorrect road number.

I am pleased to see the 'wiggly worm" CN units as they had only done (and I stand to be corrected) the zebra stripes before. I might have to hold my nose and get one to run with my original paint GP 40 on the CN transfer job......spending money on CN....oh what has the world come to,,,,?
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I am quite happy to see the green MEC's as the correct decals to do these have been gone for over a decade. Microscales last run was the wrong color, and they have not done another run.
