Pud, imagine the alcohol was instead MEK.

That's the sort of spill I've had to deal with in the not too distant past.

MEK does more than just ruin paint and decals. It pretty much destroys anything that isn't metal, which includes models, tools, and plastic drawers full of styrene parts.

In the grand scheme of things, I think you're in pretty good shape.

I stopped playing with methyl ethyl ketone (and hexane, toluene and other nasty little solutions...) when I stopped working on a letter press....cheap high..."hey kid, wanna wash 23 sets of printing plates..........."?

I too feel your pain here and have been taught my lessons, it does highlight the dangers of some of the materials we use, and the complacent attitudes we adopt for the ease of convenience. We often work with these solvents near ignition sources, like dremels, soldering equipment and heat guns. Most of us are just plain lucky we don't go off with a bang destroying everything around us. Your tale of woe, and those from others highlight just how easy it is to come undone and how lucky we have been. Make sure you know the products you are using and if you are unsure look up a MSD (Material Safety Datasheet) on the product or if one is not available the products listed constituents. Remember worst case scenarios are listed on MSDs but it will alert you to what to watch out for, just don't panic at what you read. Well that is enough from mother hen for today.

YIKES....'whimper...ok, enough...for the repair. ARCHER TRANSFER has the rivots...or I can send you some. I assume they were lost in the disaster. they decal on. TESTORS WINDOW MAKER will replace the windows. Use an Xactor to remove old window residue. A light,fine sanding would be suggested. The GOOD news is you probably have the nore correct script 'Candian Pacific' logo....either that or you could change it to your true favorite CN

Oh yes, I spent a fair bit of time in the printing business as well. Probably inhaled entirely too much blanket wash, but so far I haven't seen any ill effecstgwsgfmxycadd...
